HTC Flyer Software Tour (Video)

Raise your hands if you’re interested in seeing the HTC Flyer’s software in action. Of course you all raised your hands, so you’re in luck. The gang at Pocketnow has provided a video of the tablet running with Sense 1.0 for tablets slapped on top of  Gingerbread 2.3.4. Overall it looks incredibly fluid and smooth especially with Honeycomb (and eventually Ice Cream Sandwich) out there. Among the noteworthy features are the HTC Scribe functionality to make and create notes, Press Reader, and Dock Mode. LG Switch concept smartphone features front and back dual-displays [Video]

One thing you have to love about Android is the different form factors. We have your basic smartphone to a tablet with a keyboard dock, a tablet with a phone dock, and dual-screened smartphones and tablets. Now comes another concept from LG that puts screens on the front and back of the phone. Why front and back? LG thinks its more natural for mult-tasking. If you are running two applications at the same time, by flipping the phone, it gives a feeling of separation.

If you noticed I used the word, “concept,” because that’s all it is for the moment. Whether this ever goes into production or not is anyone’e guess, but they might want to check to see if Apple has a patent on it. More pictures and a video after the break.

Google+ is now available with Google Apps

Today Google announced that those with a Google Apps Gmail account at college, work, or home can now use Google+. This is something a lot of you have been waiting for. Let your organization know because they have to turn on the Google+ feature if they aren’t already set to automatically enable new features. Once they do, you will be able to sign up at google.com/+ and share the same benefits of every other Google+ user. You will even have the option to share with everyone in your organization even if you haven’t added them to your circles.

We’re only a few days from Halloween, but there’s still time to get into the spirit with SwiftKey. They just updated their keyboard app to fix a few bugs, but they included a new black and orange Halloween theme called, “Pumkin.”

The LG Prada K2 has yet to be finalized, but that hasn’t stopped the leaks from slipping through the cracks. PhoneArena reports an anonymous tipster has sent them photographs of the “LG Prada P940″. The site goes on to argue that the touchscreen phone actually resembles  the LG Prada K2, which will be an Android-powered variant of the LG Prada line. The phone will be under 9mm thin, sport a 4.3 inch NOVA display, include an 8MP camera along with a 1.3MP front-facing camera, have a HSDPA+ radio, dual-core processor, and of course Gingerbread 2.3 among its notable features. The phone is expected to be released sometime this quarter, so it will be intriguing to see what the final design of the device will be. Quick Look At Amazon’s Free App of The Day: Ghost Radar

Amazon’s free app today is an entertainment app only. Ghost Radar uses the phones sensors to measure the electric magnetic fields around you. It features a radar image that shows you different color dots on the screen that represent possible nearby ghosts. Every so often it will give you a word. Some of them are random and others have made the hair on my arms stand up.

I downloaded it this morning around 2am, and it was a little creepy hearing words like “coming” and “attack” in the total dark. I’ve been playing with it more this morning and it doesn’t seem to have the same creepy effect as it does in the dark.

Even though this is for entertainment purposes only, it is defiantly an app that you could (and should) trick your friends with Halloween right around the corner. Especially if you have one of those easy to scare friends. Cause everyone knows scaring people is what Halloween is all about. (oh and candy too)

If you’re not using the App Store, you can grab the download here by entering your email address or phone number in the upper right hand corner for a download link.  Be sure to have the "unknown sources" box checked off under Settings—>Applications on your Android device.

You can also find Ghost Radar here. For an app that will usually run you $0.99, it is worth the money for a good laugh and maybe it will make your hair rise too. Today would be even better to get it while it is free.

Sony To Buy Ericsson’s Share Of Sony Ericsson

As we reported earlier this month Sony looks primed to buy Ericsson’s share of the company. Sony is reported to be paying 1.05 billion Euros to buy the 50 percent of the company that Ericsson holds.

This will bring a family of patents to Sony’s Electronic empire. Sony has been looking to regain entire control of their company.  Even though the buyout has been approved by both companies, yet it isn’t expected to go through until January of next year and it still needs to be cleared by regulatory officials.

[Leak] RAZR-like Motorola DROID 4 pictures appear

The DROID keyboarded series has been one of the most popular Android phones, but the DROID 3 hasn’t wowed us enough, mostly because it lacks 4G LTE. Personally, I have always loved the Motorola slide-out QWERTY devices, but with 4.5-inch phones that are less than 9mm thick, it is hard to go back.

The DROID 4 could be what the doctor ordered because it looks to have the same styling as the DROID RAZR along with 4G LTE. We all know the RAZR’s top feature is that it’s only 7.1mm thick. No world on what the DROID 4 will come in at, but if this beast comes in close to 9mm, this could be as popular as the original DROID.

HTC Raider (aka Holiday) and Samsung Galaxy Slide to launch on Rogers for $149.99 with a 3-year contract, Get a Galaxy Tab 10.1 for free

Rogers in Canada is going to have a big 4th quarter this year with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S II LTE, Motorola RAZR, HTC Raider, formerly the HTC Holiday, and the Samsung Galaxy Slide. The Galaxy S II LTE and the RAZR are expected to be available on November 4th and priced $199.99 and $149.99 respectively (with a 3-year contract).

The HTC Raider is the second LTE device to hit Rogers and will also be priced at $149.99 with a 3-year contract. We have already seen it hit the FCC with AT&T radios, so we are hoping to see it here in the states especially since it was seen downloading at 29Mbps with AT&T LTE.

As a reminder the Raider features a 4.5-inch qHD (960 x 540) display, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, 8MP camera that shoots 1080p HD video, and Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

We also got word on the Samsung Galaxy Glide (pictured below), which should launch in November as well for $149.99 with a 3-year contract. This one will sport a 4-inch Super AMOLED display, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 8MP rear camera, 1.2 front camera, and Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

To top is all off, Rogers will have a little incentive to sign away on that 3-year contract. They are giving away a free Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 for those who activate a family plan (2 lines with voice and data). If you are only able to add one new line while converting to a family plan, you can still grab it for $150.00.
