GameStop to offer Android tablets

GameStop announced on Friday that it will move into the tablet selling business. The gaming retailer said it will offer Google Android tablets from Samsung, Acer, and ASUS in 200 of its store this holiday season as part of a pilot program. Each tablet will come with seven free games with links to the Android Market and GameStop's own mobile app store, which is called Kongregate Arcade. GameStop has also developed a wireless controller, which will be sold as an accessory for $39. The company expects to expand the tablet program if it proves successful.

Beluga messaging app shuts down December 15, encourages use of Facebook Messenger

Group messaging app Beluga announced yesterday that it would be shutting down its service on December 15. Beluga was purchased by Facebook earlier this year and provides the technology behind Facebook's own Messenger app for Android, iOS, and BlackBerry smartphones. It was only a matter of time before Beluga would ride off into the sunset, and it looks like that time has come.

Samsung plans to launch phones with flexible displays next year

Nokia was showing off a flexible display concept at Nokia World this week, but Samsung might beat them to the punch with bringing a mobile phone with a flexible display to the market if the company's latest statements are to be believed. Samsung says that it plans to have mobile phones with bendable displays on the market as soon as next year.
