Posted: 30 Oct 2011 01:33 PM PDT

Our friends over at Eurodroid are reporting good news for HTC Desire S owners. Over the past couple weeks people have been receiving OTA updates that include Android 2.3.5 and Sense 3.0. This newer version of Sense features a redesigned 3D launcher, new lock screen and other cool enhancements.

Word has it that unbranded Desire S owners in the UK, along with owners of Vodafone, T-Mobile, O2 and Orange devices have begun to receive the updates already. So if you are the owner of a Desire S keep a look out and remember, to see if you have an update waiting, press Menu –> Settings –> About Phone –> Software Update. If nothing is there yet be patient, roll outs can take a while sometimes.

Google’s answer to Flipboard could launch this week

Posted: 30 Oct 2011 12:26 PM PDT

We told you about Google’s new social news reader, code-named Propeller, about a month ago, and it looks like a launch could take place this week. Propeller will be a lot like Flipboard, which has been a big hit on the Apple iPad. It will also compete with the likes of Pulse, Taptu, and News360. Furthermore, we are hearing Yahoo! will also launch a similar offering this Wednesday called Livestand.

We aren’t sure if Propeller will be the actual name since it’s a code name, but there are reports that “Currents” could be the choice. It’s an HTML5 reader, and it will be available for both Android and the Apple iPad. Propeller will have plenty of media partners, and it will integrate with the Google+ social network.

Quick Look at Amazon’s Free App of the Day: Hungry MonstR

Posted: 30 Oct 2011 11:17 AM PDT

Today’s free Amazon app, Hungry MonstR, is another one of those time-killer games. Usually $1.99, this may not be that killer game you have been looking for and ends up being one of those you load only to hand off to your kids while driving.

The game-play is easy, you have to protect your ice cream cart from hungry monsters who’s only desire is to make off with your goods without the intention of paying. Each monster has a different color, one of four colors that correlates with these suction tube thingys in each corner of your screen. As the game begins, the monsters walk toward your cart at a leisurely pace in random order from all sides of the screen. Your goal is to flick them into one of the corner tubes based on what color the monster is, blue monster – flick em’ to the blue tube, pink monster – pink tube. You get the idea, just don’t flick the monster into the wrong color tube because that will plug it up for a few seconds rendering it unusable. As you progress the monsters pick up the pace, all the while bringing even more monster friends to the ice cream heist. Read More…
