NOOK Newstand to offer Conde Nast magazine subscriptions

Conde Nast has announced it will offer both single issue and monthly subscriptions to users of the NOOK Tablet and NOOK Color via the NOOK Newstand. The company will offer a total of 18 magazines, which include Wired, Architectural Digest, Bon Appetit, Details, and Golf Digest. Vogue will not be available until next year, according to the publisher.

Google releases Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich source code

Today Google released the source code for Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich to the open source community. The source code is, more specifically, for version 4.0.1, which is the version that is to ship on Google's new flagship Android smartphone, the Galaxy Nexus by Samsung. The source code is free to download now and includes all the code for all previous releases of Android, including Honeycomb, as well.

Amazon Kindle Fire catches the eye of Android developers

Amazon's new Kindle Fire tablet hasn't quite yet hit the hands of would-be buyers, but that hasn't stopped developers from saying that it is the most desired of all Android tablets to create apps for. Appcelerator and IDC polled almost 2,200 developers this month, and the Kindle Fire edged out the Samsung Galaxy Tab as the most attractive Android tablet to target their efforts at.

Google has released a minor update to the Android YouTube app that adds a +1 button for videos, annotations, a Watch Later queue, and the ability to edit a video's information while it is uploading. Version 2.3.4 of YouTube is a free update and available in the Android Market now.

AT&T to launch Pantech Pocket, Samsung DoubleTime, Samsung Captivate Glide on November 20

November 20 is lining up to be a busy day for AT&T, as the carrier plans to launch three new smartphones in addition to the already announced Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE and six new LTE markets. AT&T will offer the new Pantech Pocket, Samsung Captivate Glide, and Samsung DoubleTime on that date as well. The Pocket and Captivate Glide both run Android 2.3 Gingerbread, while the DoubleTime skirts by with 2.2 Froyo. Pricing has yet to be announced for any of the phones.

Along with the availability of the new Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 with LTE, AT&T has announced that it will activate 4G LTE service in six new markets on November 20. The new markets are Charlotte, N.C.; Indianapolis, Ind; Kansas City, Mo; Las Vegas, Nev.; Oklahoma City, Okla.; and San Juan, Puerto Rico. These new markets will bring the total number of LTE markets for AT&T up to 15 - meeting its promise of 15 covered markets by the end of 2011. The carrier says it will offer the high-speed network to 70 million U.S. citizens by the end of the year. Additionally, AT&T says that it has met its promise of 20 new 4G devices this year, with the Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE being the twenty-fourth 4G device launched in 2011 by the carrier.

Sprint outs new mobile broadband plans with more data for less money

Sprint has announced two new mobile broadband plans for mobile hotspots, USB modems, and tablets that offer more data for less money than older options. The new plans offer 6GB of 3G/4G data for $49.99 per month or 12GB of 3G/4G data for $79.99 per month. Sprint points out that this is cheaper than competing plans offered by Verizon Wireless and AT&T. Overage fees for Sprint's plans are $0.05 per megabyte, and the new plans are not compatible with the carrier's smartphone offerings.

Amazon Kindle Touch arrives earlier than expected

Along with the early shipment of the Kindle Fire, Amazon is also sending out the new Kindle Touch and Kindle Touch 3G to customers ahead of schedule. Expected to ship November 21, the touch version of the e-reader is shipping out today - days early. The Wi-Fi version of the Kindle Touch retails for $99, while the 3G model commands $149. Amazon Kindle Fire ships a day ahead of schedule

Amazon has announced that its new Kindle Fire tablet, expected to ship tomorrow, has begun shipping out to customers a day early. The Kindle Fire features a 7-inch, 600 x 1024 pixel display and a dual-core processor, and it has access to Amazon's wealth of video and e-book content, as well as the Amazon Appstore. It costs $199, and includes a 30-day trial of Amazon Prime. In addition to being available from Amazon directly, the Kindle Fire will also be carried at Best Buy locations across the country, starting tomorrow.

Apple iPhone 4S to launch in India on November 25

Indian carrier Aircel has officially announced that it will offer the new Apple iPhone 4S starting on November 25. The iPhone 4S has been available in various parts of the world since mid-October, but this is the first time that it will officially be available in India. Aircel stores will open at 12 a.m. local time on the twenty-fifth for the launch, and anxious customers can place pre-orders starting November 18. Pricing has yet to be announced. Bharti Airtel, Apple's other official iPhone carrier in India, is expected to launch the phone on November 25 as well.

The Beats Audio-equipped HTC Rezound for Verizon Wireless is available for purchase starting today. The 4G LTE-powered smartphones features a 720p HD resolution, 4.3-inch touchscreen display, a dual-core 1.5GHz processor, and 16GB of internal storage that is backed up by a pre-installed 16GB microSD memory card. The Rezound also includes one of HTC's new generation cameras that offers a fast f/2.2 wide angle lens and an 8 megapixel back-lit sensor that performs well in low light and can record 1080p HD video. The phone is available today for $299.99 with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, but HTC and Verizon have promised an upgrade to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in early 2012.
