O2 UK now offering BlackBerry Curve 9380 touchscreen phone

O2 in the UK has just added the BlackBerry Curve 9380 from RIM to its lineup of messaging phones. The new BlackBerry Curve 9380 is the first all-touchscreen smartphone in the Curve family, and it looks very similar to the all-touch Torch 9850/9860, though with a smaller display. The device offers the BlackBerry 7 operating system, a bright and colorful 3.2-inch touchscreen display, HSDPA and Wi-Fi connectivity, and a 5MP camera with video capabilities. Windows Phone 7 Connector for Mac update fixes bugs, adds features

An update for Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 Connector application for Mac users is now available. The update brings a plethora of new features that include Apple Aperture software sync and import support, drag and drop file import, improved video conversion, Windows Phone Marketplace support for WP 7.5 devices, and a host of other improvements as well as bug fixes. Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket breaks cover in white dress

With most of the other variations of the Samsung Galaxy S II receiving a white treatment of some sort, it doesn't come as much of a surprise that a white edition of the Galaxy S II Skyrocket for AT&T is in the works. While it hasn't been officially announced by AT&T, Samsung has listed the white Skyrocket on its site, alongside the black model currently available.

BlackBerry PlayBook orders canceled, inventory pulled from shelves

RIM's beleaguered BlackBerry PlayBook tablet has taken quite a few knocks since its release this spring, and it seems like the hits keep coming. RIM and major retailers have slashed the prices of the tablet by hundreds of dollars in order to move them off of shelves, but reports are all over the internet claiming that orders for the tablet have been canceled and retailers are no longer stocking new, unopened versions of it.

Sony Ericsson aims for March release of Android 4.0 ICS upgrades

A few weeks back, Sony Ericsson made it known that its entire 2011 line-up of Xperia smartphones would be upgraded to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich at some point in the future, but it did not give a timeframe as to when users could expect the upgrades. Now, Sony Ericsson's Italian division says that the upgrades are targeted for a March 2012 release period, just in time to qualify for a first-quarter 2012 deployment. Of course, things could change between now and March, and delays may occur, but if our memory serves us correctly, this is the first time a manufacturer has mentioned a specific month as to when it intends to release Ice Cream Sandwich updates, instead of the fairly ambiguous "early 2012" timeframe.

SPB Software purchased by Russian search engine Yandex

SPB Software, developer of popular smartphone apps such as SPB Shell 3D and SPB Wallet, has announced that it has been acquired by Yandex, Russia's largest search engine and developer of other internet services. Yandex plans to use SPB's software, including the previously mentioned SPB Shell 3D, to get its "cloud services" integrated into smartphones sold in Russia. The terms of the deal were not announced.

The Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus is the latest 7-inch Android tablet to come from Samsung. While 4G versions are coming, we tested out the initially available Wi-Fi model to see how it stacks up when compared with its larger 8.9 and 10.1 inch tablet brothers. The 7.0 Plus features a dual-core 1.2GHz processor and a very slim design that measures only 10mm at its thickest point, while maintaining a weight of only 345g. It features a 3 megapixel main camera and a secondary 2 megapixel unit up front for video chatting, and its display offers 1024 x 600 pixel resolution.

Sony Ericsson axes Sync service; lone user weeps

Sony Ericsson has announced that it is killing off its Sony Ericsson Sync service and is encouraging users to utilize Google Sync instead. Sony Ericsson Sync was initially designed for older devices and allowed users to back up and sync their contacts to the web. Since all of Sony Ericsson's current smartphones use the Android operating system, this functionality is replicated natively by Google Sync. Sony Ericsson also says that users can utilize alternative syncing solutions like Plaxo and UNYK if they are not fans of Google's native sync options.

Amazon says Black Friday Kindle sales 4 times last year

Amazon has announced that Kindle sales from Black Friday amounted to four times the sales on the same day last year, thanks to strong demand for the Kindle Fire tablet. While the company did not announce any concrete numbers, it did say that the Kindle Fire has been the best selling product on its virtual shelves for eight weeks in a row, and that it expects the high number of sales to continue for Cyber Monday. In addition to being offered at Amazon.com, the Kindle family of e-readers and tablets can also be purchased at retailers like Target and Best Buy.

LG has announced its official Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade plans for its high-end Optimus smartphones released this year. While there was initially some confusion around whether or not the Optimus 2X would get the upgrade, LG has confidently stated that it will, along with other Optimus smartphones.
